9 Best Coffee Makers Made in USA, Not China

crazy by Editorial Staff | Updated on April 26th, 2023

I discovered a plethora of posts regarding American-Made Coffee Makers! Several of these posts identify Hamilton Beach, Breville, Mr. Coffee, and other brands as Made in the USA, to my chagrin.

No Hamilton Beach, Cuisinart, or Mr. Coffee products are produced in the United States. Keurig machines, also, are not manufactured in the United States!

made in usa

I went ahead to perform some Internet research. Do you want to know what I discovered?

When a coffee-making product is NOT produced in China, trust me, they want you to know about it. It might be in the title, feature list, or description.

It is not certain, but if there is no mention of the nation of origin, you may presume China.

But it does not mean that all coffee makers produced in China are awful. I have no beef against the Chinese people. Chinese folks work hard! But I guess you would want to see a few — just a few – manufactured in the USA labels on coffee machines again.

Manufactured in the United States vs. Made in the United States

Well-known brands like De’Longhi, Mr. Coffee, Hamilton Beach, and Cuisinart are all manufactured in China. Fortunately, a few firms may still claim that their coffee machines are manufactured in the United States.

The FTC (Federal Trade Commission) defines a product as Made in the USA when “all or practically all” components are manufactured in the United States.

If a product’s pieces are created in another country, it no longer qualifies for “made in” and must instead use terms like “built-in,” “assembled in,” or “produced in.” “All or nearly all” signifies that most of the components of the finished product and labor must be made in the United States.

Is it possible to find Drip Coffee Makers made in the United States?

Short answer: No, it is not! This is not to say that decent coffee makers do not exist; they do! However, they are currently largely manufactured in other countries. They would be a LOT more expensive if they were not.

Are Bunn Coffee Makers Made in the United States?

Both yes and no.

Are Bunn Coffee Makers Made In The United States? No!

Are Bunn Coffee Makers Manufactured In The United States? Yes!

Bunn avoids using the terms “Made in the USA” after reading the remark about Assembled in the USA.

Instead, they refer to their coffee machines as Assembled or Built-In USA.

Bunn’s statement is as follows:

‘Materials are sourced from North America and other parts of the globe. Therefore, a manufacturer, such as BUNN, must have a regulated diversity of sources for the materials and components used to build coffee makers and other beverage equipment.’

BUNN closely supervises all suppliers and has a strong supplier quality procedure to ensure that supplies originate solely from BUNN-approved sources and meet all agency standards. At BUNN, safety and quality are of the utmost importance.

Choose the G.R., B.X., B.T., or Speed Brew models if you want machines made in the United States. Although certain components may be sourced elsewhere, these machines are manufactured in Iowa.

The Home Trifecta MB is also made in the United States. Although certain components may be sourced from elsewhere, this machine is built in Springfield, Illinois. We are unaware of any other coffee maker manufactured in the United States.

Would enough customers choose the American Made Coffee Maker to keep Bunn alive?

Not at all; otherwise, fewer Chinese-made coffee makers would be on the market.

Let us take a deeper look at Bunn’s coffee machines.

Best Coffee Makers Made in the USA

1. Bunn speed brew drip coffee maker

Speed Brew is the name this Bunn Drip Coffee Maker gives since it can complete a full brew cycle in 4 minutes.

How so?

It is simple! The Bunn Speed Brew includes an inbuilt water tank that maintains water at brewing temperature at all times. So when you are ready to make another batch of coffee, there is no need to preheat the water.

This coffee maker’s spray head is Bunn-engineered and increases the contact duration between water and coffee.

Furthermore, it has a lime-tolerant spray head, which means minerals, particularly in hard water, will not block it so often.

2. Bunn velocity brew 10 cup

These coffee machines are available in two models: the GRB, GRW, and the BXB, BXW.

The letters B and W at the end indicate whether the coffee maker is black or white.

Both the G.R. and B.X. machines include the following features:

  • BUNN showerhead with patented technology for full soaking of all coffee grounds
  • Brewing time is 3 minutes for about 10 cups
  • Pour-O-Matic glass carafe for drip-free pouring
  • Internal stainless steel water reservoir maintains water temperature at 200° F
  • On/Off LED Switch
  • Porcelain-coated warming plate
  • Comes in colors Black or White

Unfortunately, these models lack built-in grinders. So, what is the difference between the Bunn Velocity Brew GR and the Bunn B.X.? The design, in a nutshell.

The GR model has a classic Bunn design: square and angular, black with a silver front. The BXB features a more contemporary appearance and a circular silver water reservoir.

3. Velocity brew bt 10 cup

Except for the glass carafe and the warming plate, the Bunn Velocity Brew BT has the same features as the G.R. and B.X.

The design is also somewhat different, as seen in the picture.

The Bunn BT has a double-walled, vacuum-insulated thermal carafe and does not require a warming plate.

4. Aeropress coffee press

The Aeropress is an outstanding and widely used appliance for brewing a wonderful cup of coffee.

It is mostly used at home or during the World AeroPress Championship. Yes, you read it correctly! It is so popular that a global championship has been established!

Because it does not need power, it is also a good item for camping or other types of travel.

5. Pour over coffee maker by Chemex

A basic yet attractive coffee machine is popular among coffee aficionados and baristas of all types.

Chemex is manufactured in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. For any health-conscious readers, it is 100% BPA-free.

Chemex’s unusual hourglass-shaped form is what makes it so popular. They did not stop there, however. Chemex also created their filter: a thick specialty fiber filter. This thick filter, according to Chemex, keeps bitter ingredients, oils, and coffee sediments out of your cup and in the filter.

6. Toddy cold brew system

Toddy is the second American-made cold brew coffee machine on my list. It functions similarly to the Filtron system. The main difference is that the Toddy System lacks an additional water basin and the ground coffee guard. Instead, you combine coffee and water in a single pot. You also cover the missing guard with a spoon by pressing down the grounds.

Toddy sells a large paper filter, which helps to prolong the life of the felt filter. Cleaning up is considerably simpler. Just throw the filter away!

If 60 ounces of cold brew coffee is still insufficient, you will most likely seek a commercial-style cold brew machine.

7. Takeya cold brew maker

While you might have heard of the preceding three products, Takeya is unlikely to ring any bells. This is because this American company mostly manufactures water bottles. However, due to the nature of cold brewing, the firm has created a deliciously easy cold brewing gadget for consumers on the move.

Takeya’s intelligently designed brewer is a robust BPA-Free Tritan pitcher with an airtight cover and non-slip silicone handle that can generate four serves of cold brew. A fine-mesh coffee filter is housed within the pitcher to store your grinds, so all you have to do is fill, shake, steep, and drink. It can even withstand hot brewing!

The Takeya Cold Brewer is an excellent choice for folks on the run who want to enjoy the advantages of cold-brewed coffee. And, of course, Takeya’s goods are all created in the United States.

8. Maldeco french press and pour over

The Maldeco French Press is the last coffee maker on our list of coffee makers made in the United States. Medelco (Incorporated in Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA) manufactures the full Café Brew Collection (primarily universal-fit, coffee accessories, and replacement kettles).

However, their only stand-alone brewing items are the French Press and the pour-over.

The French Press is elegant and straightforward. It features a stainless steel double-walled design, so it will not only keep your brew warm, but it should also last a long time. It is also totally dishwasher safe, which makes cleaning a joy.

9. Coleman coffee maker for camping

Here is a bonus for you.

Are you going on a camping vacation or road trip with an RV, yet, want to make delicious coffee? Then, I strongly advise you to check at the Coleman Camping American-made coffee maker. It is ideal for your coffee-on-the-go kit. The Coleman is intended to be used with two or three burner camp stoves and can make enough coffee for up to ten people.

Coffee Accessories Made in the United States

Some coffee items are advertised elsewhere as “Made in the USA” coffee makers. However, such labeling is deceptive since none of them can be utilized without additional brewing equipment. Furthermore, none of them is the primary “brewing instrument.”

Brewing kone and disk filters (Chemex or AeroPress)

This stunning pour-over brewer was invented, designed, and produced in California, USA, by Able Brewing! Stainless steel is used to make the Kone Filter.

The KONE filter is intended to suit 6, 8, and 10-cup Chemex coffee machines, but it is also compatible with any carafe or pour-over equipment of a similar form. It is made of stainless steel and reusable, replacing traditional paper filters.

The DISK filter is similarly made of stainless steel and has a regular or fine mesh choice. This filter is designed to work with AeroPress coffee machines. So, with this plus, an AeroPress coffee machine user can have a completely made-in-the-USA brewing experience! If you often travel with your AeroPress, this is an excellent alternative since it removes the need to carry many paper filters.

Coffee sock

Coffee Socks are made with organic cotton and are intended to be rinsed and hung dry after use. This sock is designed to fit a Chemex 6-13 cup carafe and is compatible with other pour-over coffee instruments of a similar shape and size.

Eighth ratio (pour-over assistant)

It is worth noting that the Ratio Eight is frequently referred to as an American-made coffee maker. While the Ratio Eight is made in Portland, Oregon, it is not a coffee brewer in and of itself (we will explain why later). Instead, it must be used with a separate pour-over or dripper tool to brew coffee.

The Ratio Eight machine effectively substitutes the kettle and barista for pour-over coffee. It comes with a glass carafe to which you can add your pour-over tool of choice and a filter and grounds. When you switch it on, the Ratio Eight warms the water and simulates the particular pouring technique required for an excellent pour-over coffee.

This device blooms the coffee and just about everything. Therefore all you need to do is set it up, hit a button, and walk away. This is an excellent product for individuals who want the lightness of pour-over coffee but do not want to deal with the learning curve that comes with mastering the method.

The advantages of using American-made coffee makers

While a coffee maker is a coffee maker no matter where it is produced, as long as the quality is decent, there are advantages to choosing “Made in USA” coffee makers.

  • Environmentally friendly

Today’s discussion issues include eco-consciousness and other strategies to ensure a beneficial environmental effect other than sustainable materials. For example, choosing “Made in the USA” coffee makers saves fuel consumption and total carbon emissions during shipment.

Furthermore, producers in the United States must follow the Clean Air Act standards, which are often fairly rigorous.

  • Have a beneficial economic impact

Purchasing coffee makers branded “Made in the USA” has an economic effect. According to the Manufacturing Institute, every dollar spent on final sales of manufactured goods in the United States supports at least $1.33 in production from other market sectors.

This indicates that items labeled “Made in the USA” have a significant and favorable influence on economic growth.

  • Low-cost and quick delivery

One of the most significant advantages of “Made in the USA” items is that they are closer to the consumer, resulting in speedier delivery. In addition, when a product is manufactured locally, it is typically simpler to send it promptly rather than depending on lengthier transit times from other nations.

  • Flexibility

Another advantage of purchasing manufactured in the USA coffee machines is that just-in-time production provides lower warehousing expenses. This allows you to drop ship numerous goods to numerous locations.

There is also the option of producing smaller batches of bespoke items or rushing bigger orders that need immediate attention.

  • You buy into the USA pride

Purchasing “Made in the USA” items has an economic consequence but also provides a feeling of pride.

Products “Made in the USA,” such as coffee makers, have an extra selling power that creates a lasting and favorable image of a brand on the patriotic American end consumer.

How does a coffee maker made in the USA work?

To claim that a coffee maker is “Made in the USA,” manufacturers must follow rigorous Federal Trade Commission (FTC) standards. Such restrictions mandate that the final assembly of such a product takes place in the United States. As a result, most of the overall production expenditures are spent on American components and processes.

Other sophisticated labeling regulations must be followed by manufacturers, particularly if an American flag or map is included in the box.

A corporation may make a qualified claim if a product is manufactured in various nations. For example, a corporation might identify the portion of the product made in the United States or label it “assembled in the United States.”
