[7 Ways] How to Make Strong Cup of Coffee with Keurig

You may find coffee lovers raising a brow once Keurig enters the conversation. But can you blame them? Although it’s convenient and quick to use, it does not deliver coffee with the most needed kick. But this does not mean you should permanently turn your back on Keurig.

With a little extra effort, you can still use this coffee machine to brew some delicious and bold cups of coffee.

Tips and tricks for better brews

Keurig

1. Clean and maintain the machine regularly

We recommend cleaning your Keurig at least once a month or more if used daily or frequently. To do so, take the K-cup holder, wash it, and manually clean the coffee grounds, dirt, and debris. Next, a soft brush or paper towel may clean the machine thoroughly. Lastly, pour in the vinegar and run it for around two cycles for sanitation, followed by water cycles to get rid of the vinegar taste.

2. Grind your beans

If the reusable My K-Cup doesn’t do the trick enough, you may opt to grind your beans. But, again, the ground level is vital since it dictates how much water will come into contact with beans during extraction.

You’d want something in between. If too coarse, the coffee will be watery. If too fine, it may clog the machine up and prolong the brewing time.

3. Brew two K-Cups instead

If you have no time to grind your beans, brew two K-cups instead of one to increase your coffee’s fix. Do so in the lowest ounce setting to lessen dilution and double up on extra-strong 6oz cups.

The downside is that it doubles the price and the waste you put out there.

4. Twice the K-Cup before brewing

You may combine your used K-Cups and some reusable coffee filter with adding more flavor to your brew. The longer trap time for the water increases the extraction. Get a hold of a used K-Cup, clean it, and throw in your My-K-Cup. Pour in water and wait for the magic to happen!

5. Opt for darker or stronger coffees

If you don’t want all that fuss, you can buy darker roasts than you typically would. With all the Keurig-compatible brands, you can find the one that kicks just enough.

Here are our top strongest k-cups you can buy.

6. Increase the temperature

One of the possible culprits for a weaker brew is water that’s not hot enough to extract more flavor from the grounds. So it’s a good thing that you have the capability to at least choose the temperature of your choice.

You also have the option to pre-heat the Keurig by running a hot water cycle. That’s simple!

7. Stop before the last drops

The last few drops post-brewing are mostly diluted; thus, pull out before they make it to your coffee. Just remember to clean the drip tray after!

Now that you’re armed with ways to work around your Keurig for some stronger brew, you must think twice about replacing good ol’ coffee buddy! Happy drinking!
