Quick Reference – Coffee By Star Sign
Remember the days when you’d walk into a coffee shop and pretty much your only choices were coffee with, or without, milk? (And dairy milk only, at that.) If you were really lucky you might get a choice of caffeinated or decaffeinated, filter or instant.
Then it got complicated with different types of frappes, espresso, ristretto, lungo, pour-over, chemex, on and on and on
Have you ever thought, though, of maybe taking a slightly quirkier approach when it comes to choosing coffee?
So make sure you know your star sign (sometimes called your Sun Sign), and let’s begin, as they say, at the beginning.
Coffee types based on your signs of the zodiac
Coffee, the magical drink that fuels the world, and now it can fuel your zodiac sign, too. After reading this article, you’ll never look at coffee the same way again. Here’s the best coffee for each zodiac sign.
Aries (March 21 – April 20)
Let’s start with headstrong leader of the pack Aries. You notice we said strong? Whatever coffee Aries opts for, it’s likely to be maximum strength. We’d suggest a cortado. Or maybe a tripple shot espresso, since a doppio (double shot) isn’t enough for you. (Don’t let the tiny size of the cup fool you. It packs a punch and then some.)
Taurus (April 21 – May 21)
For all you sensuous Taureans, on the other hand, it’s all about the texture. You just love your creature comforts, so anything that’s long, and lingering, foamy and packed with bubbles is likely to appeal.
You don’t like compromises and need a reliable and strong drink. A regular black coffee would do the trick. There’s nothing like devotion, however, what’s most important is where the coffee came from. Going to your favorite shop for cup of coffee or coffee beans means more than anything.
Also, gorgeously presented cappuccino, with just the right amount of chocolate sprinkles on top and maybe a wafer or two, or a luxurious latte will hit the spot.
Gemini (May 22 – June 21)
Onward through the star sign wheel – and the thing to remember about Gemini is that, as the sign of the Twins, it’s a dual sign. Plus, their natural gifts with language can make them entertaining, but slightly exhausting.
You can try to calm their natural tendency to chatter away a hundred to the dozen a little with a coffee brew that combines the best of both worlds, in a mocha. (Yes, we know. We just snuck a little bit of chocolate in there. But honestly, the combination of the rich chocolate and the robust coffee flavors? Just divine.)
Or a double shot of espresso (Doppio) would be the ideal drink.
Cancer (June 22 – July 22)
Gentle, home-loving Cancerians may well opt for drinks they can prepare easily at home or on the go – so a simple filter coffee, a classic Americano, or some of the super-convenient pre-packaged options may appeal.
For many of those born under the sign of the Crab, though, the stomach can be something of a weak spot, so a low-caffeine choice might allow you to continue to indulge without too many side-effects.
Leo (July 23 -August 21)
Then there are Leos, swishing their manes about, metaphorically, however much hair they actually have, and just loving the drama of it all. You’re likely to spot them indulging in a latte macchiato, with its dramatic stripes, or what looks like an “ordinary” cappuccino or latte on the surface.
Though that’s before you realize it’s had salted caramel, or a hint of almond, or a smidgeon of cinnamon syrup added to the brew.
Virgo (August 22 – September 23)
Ah, Virgo. Typically, the health enthusiasts of the zodiac, what will entice them to indulge in a caffeinated beverage or two? Well, decaffeinated options are likely to call to their refined palate, although with the huge range of plant-based milks on option these days, you might find them enjoying the occasional caffeine-rich cup of Joe.
Oat, soya, rice, almond – they’re likely to give them all a try in the quest for the perfect taste profile. And if they do add sweeteners, they’re likely to be natural or plant-based too – something like Stevia, or honey, or agave syrup.
Libra (September 24 – October 23)
Next up, have you ever encountered a Libran trying to make up their minds about, well, anything? Where to go or what to eat for dinner; what show to see; what coffee to drink. The thing is, they can always see both sides of any argument. Scrupulously fair and the charmers of the zodiac, a smooth cold brew or a just-brewed filter coffee (pourover will be just lovely, thank you), with just enough cream or milk and just enough sweetener (sugar, syrup, or Stevia) will help keep their coffee needs met.
Scorpio (October 24 – November 22)
When it comes to intense Scorpio, it’s all about power. Loyal, dark, and intense. Brooding. Intense. So the stronger and darker the better. At the very least, an espresso, and preferably a ristretto, or even, health allowing, one of the new super-strong coffees. It’s worth considering that how your coffee is prepared affects not only the flavor but the strength, too – so coffee made using the espresso method will be stronger than many other options.
Or choose a darker roast for your brew. And while most coffee is made from the Arabica bean, with its relatively mild flavor profile, intense Scorpios might prefer a blend made from the more intense Robusta. (Did we mention the Scorpio intensity angle?)
Sagittarius (November 23 – December 22)
Ah, Sagittarius. The Archer. The crusader of the zodiac. Always off on some whim or other. So when it comes to coffee, it has to be new. It has to be different. And keep it coming, snap, snap, snap! Depending on your tolerances, acorn coffee, mushroom coffee, or any of the other “new kids on the block” will keep your interest.
Nitro coffee is the perfect drink for a Sagittarius. Just like how the coffee has bubbles, foam, flavor, cold, refreshing taste, as an extrovert, optimistic and enthusiastic, and that likes changes, there is not better type of drink to explain this zodiac.
Until next time, anyway, or until you take a break with a classic espresso, the base for so many coffee drinks. (If you’re opting for an espresso, as a sign of quality, remember to check out the crema, that lovely foamy film on the surface.)
Capricorn (December 23 – January 20)
After all that Sagittarian energy, persistent yet surprisingly light-footed, unfussy and pragmatic Capricorns will be happy with a filter coffee or, if in a hurry (by Capricorn standards, that is) even a quick cup of freeze-dried for that instant lift. It’s also very likely they’ll enjoy blends made from coffee beans grown in the volcanic regions like Costa Rica or Hawaii.
The best brewing method would be the French Press. Since they can brew the coffee and keep all the caffeine without filtering it out. Either in a hurry, or being ambitious in getting their caffeine in the morning, this is perfect for you.
Aquarius (January 21 – February 19)
We’re on the home straight now, in astrology terms, with the sign of the water-bearer. Astute, intellectual Aquarius thrives on coffee, particularly of the caffeinated variety. See those students and scientists burning the midnight oil as they pore over their books, or experiments, or notes?
Just betting a lot of them are Aquarians, armed with a flask of delicious filter coffee, plain and simple. (You might persuade them to add a little bit of syrup or sugar or cream, if they’re feeling particularly indulgent.) And since they’re also the innovators of the zodiac, prone to experimenting, they might also surprise you all by suddenly inventing a new flavor combination or method of preparing coffee.
Pisces (February 20- March 20)
And then, rounding off the zodiac, there’s Pisces. Those born under the influence of the sign of the fishes sometimes get a reputation for being a little bit dreamy, almost like they’re tuning into something not quite of this world. One of the keys to understanding Pisceans, though, is this. See those fishes? They’re swimming in opposite directions.
Plus, many Pisceans love to travel, when it’s possible to do so in the real world; if not, they’ll happily take a tour of their supermarket aisles to see what new foods and beverages they can try. We reckon they’ll enjoy literally just working their way along the shelves, or down the menu in a coffee shop, trying out different blends and strengths, until they find the one they like. At which point, they’re just as likely to go back to the beginning, and start all over again. If we were to pick one type of drink, it would be a Latte, since it’s focused on the art and not the coffee itself.
Whatever coffee you decide on, and whether you use your star sign to help you make that decision or not, the key thing is to enjoy it.
